Senior Tax and Trust Executive

An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Tax and Trust Executive to join my client’s team. This senior appointment involves extensive trust administration and accounting, as well as comprehensive tax work, including the preparation of tax returns and associated compliance. The role offers client contact and the potential to extend beyond the main responsibilities listed.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare Trust and Estate tax returns, personal tax returns, and related tax calculations using IRIS software, including all related correspondence with clients, HM Revenue & Customs, and third parties.
  • Prepare Trust accounts and monitor deadlines for Trusts and Estates, such as ten-yearly charges and beneficial entitlements.
  • Handle the day-to-day administration of clients.
  • Complete Inheritance Tax returns for Trusts and Estates.
  • Provide ad hoc advisory work, such as advising on Trust distributions.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of junior staff members.
  • Carry out other tasks as required by the firm.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A suitable professional qualification (e.g., STEP, ATT, CTA) or part-qualified.
  • At least 2 years of significant experience in a private client or trust department in a client-facing role.
  • Ability to work accurately, prioritise work, and adhere to critical deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Proactive and ambitious, with a willingness to challenge in the best interest of the client.
  • IT literate, with experience of using case management and tax software (ideally IRIS).
