R&D Engineering Director (Designate) Electromechanical Lab Equipment

An integral part of a highly successful UK listed Group of Companies, our Client is a world leading designer & manufacturer of state-of-the-art scientific systems supplied to a global customer base (Academia, Research Institutions, Industry etc.). Based in Greater Manchester/Cheshire with an established International Distributor network, the Company is about to enter a new and exciting phase of growth.

It is in this thriving context that the Company is seeking to further strengthen its Senior Leadership Team through the appointment of a high calibre Head of Technical. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will assume full responsibility for delivering the current R&D/NPD strategy and establishing and implementing a new Technology & NPD roadmap. With responsibility for the successful development and project management of new products, you will lead, manage and develop the Engineering function, collaborating effectively with the Head of Operations. In addition, as part of the Senior Leadership team, you will share responsibility for the development and achievement of the Company’s overall strategy.

Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline (Electronic, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Physics or similar), you will be able to demonstrate a proven & commercially successful R&D/NPD management track record gained in a technical/engineered product environment (eg. electro-mechanical instrumentation, scientific/medical instrumentation, semiconductor equipment, automotive, etc.). Currently operating at R&D/NPD/Engineering Senior Manager level, your team leadership & development skills will be coupled with a strong understanding of NPD/market dynamics. An advocate of Agile (or similar) methodologies, you will be creative, highly motivated, energetic and decisive, and will possess the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively both within the Organisation and externally with customers & suppliers.
