The Façade Engineer role
We are looking for an experienced Façade Package manager for an immediate start to deliver a large Industrial Building for our secured project in Bridgwater, Somerset . The individuals will be managing the complete façade package through early detailed design , Performance testing , Manufacture, site pre-planning, coordination, interfaces, site delivery and handover. We require an experienced individual to lead a small façade team. The project is a large scale Industrial Building which comprises of several buildings, each containing different cladding, roofing and glazing types where coordination with the Clients team, other team members and the supply chain needs to be at a high level for all stages – design through to installation completion.
This individual would be responsible for leading regular design meetings and coordinating the design team and other key stakeholders, checking drawings and managing the submittal/approval process, keeping records, coordinating interfaces with other trades, interfaces, undertaking compliance checks throughout the manufacture period, witnessing the performance testing (if needed), helping to plan and coordinate the logistical and installation strategy, planning installation works on site, safety on site, quality on site, delivery of the project up to Practical Completion.
Your profile
Experienced and practical individuals who have experience of managing façades and facade delivery teams. The individuals need to be well rounded with a good understanding of design, performance testing, manufacture and installation. Ideally having worked on NEC 4 forms on contract, as a Principal Contractor. The Package Manager will liaise with the SRM; commercial team, technical design, design and manufacture, safety, quality, programme and installation teams. In addition they will have a close working relationship with the Clients team throughout the process. They will help to appoint and directly manage a number of façade Trade Contractors throughout the project/s duration. They must have a successful track record for delivery of large and complex Industrial type façades and roofing. Excellent leadership, communication and team management skills must be shown as well as technical understanding of the façade business from early design, manufacture through to installation completion. They will report directly to the SRM Project Director with a dotted line of communication to our Façade Engineering Director and his supporting ETS Façade Technical Team.
Technical experience of (all categories preferred but not essential);
Curtain wall, shop fronts – Stick systems
- Punched windows and opening window systems
- Cladding/rainscreen systems – Built up walls and composite walls
- Roofing systems – Built up, standing seam and composite systems
- Door systems
- Defect discovery and rectification
- Working with a complex pallet of different materials with demanding aesthetical and performance driven criteria
- Working with façade contractors of differing sizes, capability and experience
- Working with top tier design teams
- Working on large scale projects with large construction teams
SRM can offer support throughout this process via their ETS façade technical team and regular contact with the Façade Engineering Director. Yearly career path targets are agreed as well as the training, education and experience required to achieve these. Exposure to the higher tier Trade Contractors and design teams. Exposure to experienced project teams and upper tier clients/projects.
