Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer

Our client based in Northop is a leading international service provider to the energy industry, with a diverse client portfolio including many of the world’s leading energy companies. Due to company growth, they are seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join the team in Cheshire.

The primary role of the Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer is to ensure that the Irish Sea Pioneer (ISP) instrument and electrical control systems operate safely and function at their optimum performance. Knowledge of instrument and electronic control systems is essential whilst a basic background in emergency shut-down systems, fire and gas systems and good general engineering practices is also desirable. Actively participate in HSE activities, e.g. toolbox talks, risk assessments, safety meetings, etc.
Responsible for the annual testing of the fire and gas system and emergency shut-down system to the satisfaction of the certifying authority.
Responsible for identifying where or when the ISP could be at risk by the exposure to obsolescence, or the failure to meet performance standards.
Review and risk assess all E&I modifications.
Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
Support Operational Risk Assessment against E&I related Performance Standards equipment.

Develop in-house engineering for E&I control systems modifications where appropriate.
Responsible for the up keep of shore based documentation, manuals and electronic files and databases.
Responsible for collating data and the revision of all asset drawings to as-built standard. Ensure associated E&I engineering changes on the ISP are registered, controlled and carried out in compliance with the appropriate authorities, procedures and safe working practices.
Responsible for the updating of associated E&I engineering records, reports, databases and filing systems.
Assess the impact of third party electrical equipment upon ISP.
Asset focal point for Engineering MOC.
Asset focal point for digital transformation.
Responsible for planning and approval of spends against budget within level of approval.
(Undertake planned and unplanned E&I workscopes on ESD and F&G systems, hazardous area equipment, power generation, telecommunications, navigation and electrical equipment.
Asset focal point for collation of monthly maintenance data for inclusion in monthly reporting.

Competence assessment of the E&I Engineer will be carried out by the Electrical and Instruments TAs.

Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training course and OGUK medical
Minimum of five (5) years experience in the offshore industry as an E&I Engineer or related role
Qualified in Electrical or Instrument Engineering to HNC level with relevant vocational experience or hold degree in Electrical or Instrument Engineering
Knowledge of fire and gas systems
PC proficient in 'Word', 'Excel' and 'Microsoft Project'
Dock yard or fabrication yard experience
Co-ordinates dock visit E&I workscopes and supervises third party vendors and/or contractors
