Financial Controller

Our Client are a well-established, family-run wholesale food business in Scotland, supplying high-quality products to a wide range of customers, including restaurants, retailers, and caterers.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will be a key player in managing the financial operations of the business. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, ensuring robust financial controls, and providing strategic financial insights. Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Provide detailed financial analysis, highlighting trends, opportunities, and risks to inform key business decisions.
Support the Finance Director in presenting financial results to senior management and stakeholders.
Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop realistic financial targets.
Develop and manage rolling forecasts to ensure the business is well-prepared for both short-term and long-term financial planning.
Assist the Finance Director in scenario analysis and financial modelling to support strategic initiatives.
Monitor and manage business costs, identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies, particularly in procurement, inventory management, and supply chain.
Perform margin analysis to evaluate product and customer profitability.
Work with the Finance Director and operational teams to implement strategies that drive profitability and improve operational performance.
Ensure effective cash flow management to support business operations and future investments.
Oversee credit control and manage working capital, focusing on receivables, payables, and stock to optimise financial health.
Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, ensuring they have the tools and support to excel.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance department, driving efficiency and innovation.
Fully qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Proven experience as a Finance Controller or in a senior finance role, ideally within wholesale, food, or FMCG sectors.
Strong financial management experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Expertise in financial systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, or similar) and strong Excel capabilities.
Leadership experience, with a track record of managing and developing a finance team.
