Balltec designs, manufactures and tests high integrity mechanical connectors for critical applications in the global renewable energy and oil and gas sectors. The workshop and offshore team assemble, test and install solutions for the transfer of load in moorings, lifting components and subsea cable connections.

The Workshop Offshore Technician will work alongside other technicians, and internal company personnel to successfully complete the assembly and testing of new products, inspection and refurbishment of existing products and maintenance of company equipment. This role is split between our workshop, based in Morecambe and when required to work offsite, predominantly offshore vessels.
Workshop Duties:
Build and service specialist offshore tools and equipment.
Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems and components.
Conduct tests to ensure the quality and functionality of equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Offshore Duties:
Ability to fault find and repair tools while offshore.
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar role, preferably in the offshore or subsea industry.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
Relevant certifications or trade qualifications in mechanical fitting.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in workshop and offshore operations.
Valid offshore survival and medical certifications (BOSIET, OGUK) will be an advantage
Ability to be flexible with working hours when required (overtime on evenings and weekends at short notice).
Experience in an offshore or subsea environment (preferred).
Willingness to travel off site, to client sites and potentially worldwide.
DBS checks will be carried out prior to commencing employment due to visa requirements
Capacity to work at heights and in confined spaces
Working as an offshore technician can be challenging. Offshore operations are often carried out in remote locations, with little access to amenities, for long periods of time (maximum around 8 weeks).
