The role of the Data Centre Chief Engineer (CE) involves overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center, ensuring all equipment is running efficiently including stand-by diesel generators, switch-gear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. The CE is responsible for planned preventative maintenance, dealing with emergent issues, and managing small-to-medium impacting projects from conception to completion aimed at driving innovation and reducing operational costs. They will also act as a technical expert, provide training and supervision to Engineering Operations Technicians, and handle both daily corrective work and emergency responses. This position requires a strong background in technical facilities management within data centers, excellent leadership capabilities, and effective communication skills to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
