Commercial are business transformation specialists, working with some of the UK's top organisations within both the public and private sectors. In our IT area of the business, we provide transformation services across our five core operating areas, namely Cloud and Datacentre, Modern Workplace, Cybersecurity, Digital Workspace and Managed Services.

As a Technical Architect you will provide strategic consultancy services to Commercial's clients that improve their business and promote the use of hybrid cloud, modern workplace and security technologies. You will have an innovative mindset, keeping up with new technologies and be able to demonstrate the ability to learn from customer perspectives.

You will work in collaboration with our Solution Architecture and Project Management teams to create detailed designs to meet our clients' requirements and where needed translate these designs into functioning solutions.

In this role, you will also perform comprehensive assessments of our client's existing IT services and transform the findings into detailed reports that can assist with identifying key improvement opportunities and understanding the roadmap for applying them.

You will have experience in consulting and designing projects aligned to Commercial's IT pillars for a variety of customers.

This varied role will involve a combination of working out of our head office in Cheltenham, remotely from home and moderate travel to our client sites throughout the UK as required.

Pre-Sale Responsibilities

  1. Work with the Solution Architecture team to provide a detailed Cost Model during the proposal stage of a client engagement.
  2. Assist the Solution Architecture team in workshops during the sales engagement by providing subject matter expertise around specific technologies.
Post Sale Responsibilities
  1. Perform technical discovery assessments to gain comprehensive insights into client environments.
  2. Conduct peer review analysis of SOWs and Cost Models.
  3. Act as the technical authority and provide oversight, governance and ownership of large and complex transformation projects.
  4. Perform Technical Account Management and contribute to strategy roadmaps for allocated clients.
  5. Create both technical high-level and low-level design documentation of solutions as required, ensuring the technical consultants are following industry best practices and vendor architecture principles during the implementation.
  6. Be the technical authority on Commercial's solution portfolio.
  7. Translate the solution design into Technical Architecture documentation.
  8. Conduct technical design workshops as part of the post-sale design phase of a project.
  9. Perform scoping activities and create the Project Scope, outlining the deliverables of the project.
  10. Create the Low-Level Design Document.
  11. Create Functional and UAT Test Plans associated with the deliverables.
  12. Assist the Project Management Office with translation of the deliverables into a Project Plan as required.
  13. Present the Technical Architecture collateral to the client alongside the Project Management Office to facilitate scheduling of the project.
  14. Perform technical discovery assessments to gain comprehensive insights into client environments.
  15. Assist with Project Delivery as and when required.
  16. Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Technical Consulting team throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices.

  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate high-level designs and articulate complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.
  5. Self-motivated with the ability to identify priorities and manage multiple workloads.
  6. Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills, with a knack for identifying and addressing technical challenges creatively and effectively.
  7. Adapt to new technologies and changing business environments, maintaining flexibility in planning and execution.
  8. Maintain a strong client focus, understanding client needs and translating them into effective technical solutions.
  9. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines whilst maintaining the highest quality of output.
  10. Demonstrate expertise in leading customer meetings, engaging in technical whiteboarding sessions, and meticulously documenting environment information.
  11. You will have a proven track record in technical architecture engagements and the successful low-level design of solutions.
  12. You will be certified to Architect level in Cloud, Modern Workplace or Datacentre technologies, holding industry accreditations equivalent to Microsoft AZ-305 /AZ-104 / AZ-140 / MS-102 / MD-102, HPE Master ASE, Aruba ACMP and Fortinet Certified Professional.
