The National Audit Office (NAO) is pleased to announce a vacancy for a Financial Audit Resourcing Manager to oversee our resourcing processes to support our audit teams in providing the right people to the right projects at the right time. Our people are our most important asset and effective resource management supports both high quality audit work and supports our ambitions to deliver insight to help improve public services.
The NAO supports Parliament to hold government to account and to improve public services. We focus on driving long-term sustainable improvement in public service delivery and work with government and our stakeholders to deliver better performance.
The NAO’s Financial Audit Service Line comprises c600 permanent staff supporting the delivery of our financial audit work. This includes colleagues in-training for accounting qualifications and qualified staff at Senior Audit, Audit Manager, Senior Audit Manager and Director level. Our audit portfolio is growing and we deliver the audit of a number of high-profile central government bodies and organisations such as the BBC. We are preparing for our 2025 Strategic Review and have ambitious plans around both recruitment and further improvements to the way we deploy our staff is vital in ensuring we meet our delivery ambitions for our portfolio of audit work. We are seeking a Financial Audit Resourcing Manager to support in achieving our objectives. The Financial Audit Resourcing Manager will:
•Oversee our central resourcing processes, utilising management information and data to support the effective deployment of staff;
•Liaise closely with audit teams and Resource Directors (who have responsibility for managing resources within each of our business units) to manage resourcing priorities and identifying solutions to resourcing pressures;
•Oversight of resourcing data and identifying any actions needed to ensure data is complete, accurate and supports effective decision making;
•Monitoring and reporting on the utilisation and deployment of staff to support our ambitions that utilisation is in line with our expectations, allocations of work are fair, and audit teams have sufficient resources to deliver high-quality audit work;
•The Financial Audit Resourcing Manager reports to the Director, Financial Audit Operations and will also work closely with the wider Financial Audit Operations team, Resource Directors and business unit resourcing managers, and Human Resources. Experience in resource management, ideally within an audit environment but alternatively in a similar environment where multiple projects require concurrent delivery
•Using data and Management Information (MI), networking internally and externally to advise the business on resourcing options and solutions
•Strengths in data reporting and analysis, with the ability to identify trends and key risks
•Network internally and externally to understand current trends, best practice and innovations
•Strong business awareness to identify emerging issues and risks and propose solutions to these
•Communicates clearly and succinctly and is credible and influential with a range of stakeholders, including senior management.
