Job Title: Packaging Technologist
Team: NPD team, part of the Marketing Division
Reports to: Head of Product, NPD & Sustainability
Responsible for: No direct reports
Job Summary:
This role is a great opportunity for a creative and inquisitive packaging technologist to be part of Pai's growth story, with responsibility for new packaging development from concept to launch. The remit includes redevelopment of existing packaging to improve sustainability and product/supplier performance. The right candidate would become a core part of the NPD & R&D team and support in project management, testing and sampling new innovations to bring products to market.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Packaging Development - Develop and ensure compliance with Pai’s brand requirements for primary, secondary and transit packaging
- Existing Packaging Development - Improve product and supplier performance, customer experience and Pai’s environmental credentials
- Assist with compatibility testing, weight loss, evacuation testing and performance Testing alongside the R&D team
- Actively seek innovation in the packaging market, via supplier meetings and trade shows
- Actively support the wider NPD process working closely with R&D, Marketing and Sales to support the project management process.
- Support and implement sustainability projects across the business. For example our commitment to 100% circularity by 2030.
- Support QA and Production with new and existing packaging development via trials and first productions
- Be a key contributor to one-off or seasonal projects including gifting & sampling
- Support the management of artworks and the internal approval process.
- Coordinate and manage packaging artworks with other duties facilitating launch of NPD and EPD products
- File artworks, cutter guides and relevant packaging information in the correct format and relevant folders
- Support the Senior NPD Product Manager on Marketing, Commercial and PR team requirements for innovation sampling.
Key Skills:
- Passionate about packaging & sustainability.
- 2+ years experience within Skincare or Cosmetics packaging development with technical knowledge and a keen eye for detail
- Understanding of NPD project management and critical path analysis
- Highly organised, proactive and enjoy working on multiple projects at the same time
- Be self-driven, results-oriented and have excellent communication skills
- Proven previous experience & knowledge in printing technology and packaging materials within skincare or cosmetics
- Team player with positive, can-do attitude
