Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will work with International Operations and Finance teams to ensure the accuracy of charges raised. You will ensure clear reconciliation processes are in place, manage one Manual Billing Manager, and oversee the Financial Control framework for customs activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Control: Oversee financial control for customs activities, including import/export customs for commercial and postal clearances.
  • Process Documentation: Ensure Tax & Duty billing activities are documented and mapped, with monthly reconciliation checks and full reconciliation of deferment accounts.
  • Project Engagement: Participate in future developments and projects in the customs arena.
  • Support: Assist Sales and Commercial Teams with escalated customer enquiries, working closely with the Commercial Customs Bureau.
  • Issue Resolution: Resolve all finance issues in customs, partnering with senior stakeholders in customs compliance, tax, and billing.
  • Billing Management: Manage all off-system billing, ensuring SOX compliance and adequate controls for complex billing enquiries.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Customs Knowledge: Deep understanding of customs processes and systems (commercial and postal).
  • Financial & Data Analysis: Strong skills in financial and data analysis.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills across all business levels.
  • Problem Solving: Inquisitive nature with experience in problem ownership and resolution.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Analytical & Influencing: Excellent analytical and influencing skills.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Excel and Access; knowledge of Alteryx is desirable.
  • Qualification: Qualified accountant is desirable.
