Assistant Underwriter – Existing Business Salary: £30,000 – £40,000
Do you enjoy building strong relationships and supporting brokers to deliver great outcomes for customers?
We’re looking for an Assistant Underwriter to join our Existing Business team in Leeds. In this role, you’ll help us proactively develop and grow our commercial book of business in a sustainable and profitable way. You’ll work closely with brokers, use data insights to shape decisions, and support the team in achieving financial goals.

You’ll manage existing business for brokers and customers, ensuring renewals are handled efficiently and competitively. Collaboration is key—you’ll work with colleagues to deliver team targets and support our senior underwriters. You’ll also gain exposure to mid-market strategy and have opportunities to progress towards higher underwriting licence levels.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills – able to listen, negotiate, and work collaboratively in a large, complex organisation.
Commercial awareness – experience in trading or commercial underwriting is desirable, as is knowledge of Property & Liability or Motor Trade.
Regulatory understanding – familiarity with FCA rules and relevant legislation is helpful but not essential.

Starting salary between £30,000 and £40,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
