CK Group are recruiting for a Senior Technician (Food Material Sciences) to join a global leading food brand company at their site based in Reading on a contract basis for 5 months.


The role of Senior Technician is responsible for performing a range of sample preparation and processes using basic lab equipment and small-scale food production kits under the supervision of a more senior staff member. The role also oversees the experimental workspace, adhering to all food safety and quality policies. You will prepare, operate and maintain the equipment and ingredients for the efficient and effective operation of the experimental workspace.

Salary:

£16.03- £20.84 per hour PAYE

Senior Technician role:

  • Provide high quality stakeholder engagement at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of samples/prototypes and data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
  • Perform a range of sample preparation and operate pilot plant equipment under supervision of a senior member of staff.
  • Operate basic lab equipment as directed.
  • Run trials within given deadlines and in accordance with GMP and HACCP requirements.
  • Provide training in routine activities and methods.
  • Perform IRIS admin and housekeeping duties as directed.
  • Will be expected to work across the different Ingredient Research teams, if the demand is required.
  • Assist with the documentation of SOPs for simple equipment and tests and generation of Risk Assessments and COSHH.
  • To understand and work to the requirements of GMP and HACCP.

Your Background:

  • Educated to Degree / HNC level in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Good understanding of relevant process/product technology. Able
  • to demonstrate experience of practical application of theory in
  • food or engineering/scientific related discipline (preferred)
  • Computer literate in standard MS office applications
  • Scientific understanding and ability to conduct practical trials in
  • relevant area under supervision
  • Experience of working with applying your scientific
  • understanding to experiment planning (formulating hypotheses)
  • and analysis of results (validation of results against hypothesis) (preferred)
