We are seeking an experienced Product Merchandiser to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the luxury sector with a strong background in range building, category and product management, along with expertise in working with design teams to deliver exceptional products. They will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the product lifecycle, from concept to delivery, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with company objectives.


Responsibilities:

1. Range Building, Category Management & Product Management:

§ Develop and execute strategic plans for product ranges, considering market trends, consumer preferences, and company goals.

§ Analyse sales data and market trends to optimise product assortment within assigned categories.

§ Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from concept development to launch, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.

§ Develop range plans in collaboration with design and sales teams, considering market demand and company objectives.


2. Trend Forecasting & Identifying Trading Opportunities:

§ Stay abreast of industry trends and consumer insights to forecast future trends and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

§ Identify and capitalize on trading opportunities to maximize sales and profitability.


3. Sell Through Ownership, Target Prices & Price Negotiation:

§ Monitor sell-through performance and take proactive measures to optimize inventory levels.

§ Set target prices based on cost analysis, market trends, and competitive landscape.

§ Negotiate pricing with suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and maximize margins.


4. Factory Management, Compliance & Raising Bulk PO's:

§ Liaise with production teams and factories to ensure production schedules are met and compliance with quality standards and ethical sourcing practices.

§ Generate and manage purchase orders for bulk production, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.


5. Invoicing, Shipping & Delivery Dates:

§ Verify and process invoices from suppliers and vendors in a timely manner.

§ Coordinate shipping logistics and ensure timely delivery of products to distribution centres or retail locations.

§ Monitor delivery schedules and address any delays or discrepancies to ensure on-time delivery.


6. Sample Management, Fit Sessions & Photoshoots:

§ Manage sample development process with design and production teams, including approvals and revisions.

§ Coordinate review sessions and communicate feedback to production teams for necessary adjustments.

§ Collaborate with marketing teams to coordinate product photoshoots and ensure alignment with brand guidelines.


7. Visual Merchandising (VM) & Cross-Department Coordination:

§ Provide input on VM strategies to maximize product visibility and drive sales in line with strategy.

§ Collaborate with various departments, including design, production, marketing, and sales, to ensure alignment of product strategies and goals.


8. Regional Planning, Design & Production Relations & Product Launch Coordination:

§ Develop regional product strategies tailored to specific market needs and preferences.

§ Facilitate communication between design and production teams to ensure seamless execution of product development and manufacturing processes.

§ Coordinate product launch activities, including marketing campaigns, promotions, and events.


9. Delivery Schedule, Competition Analysis & Critical Path:

§ Manage delivery schedules and communicate timelines to relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

§ Conduct competitive analysis to identify market trends, benchmark against competitors, and inform product strategies.

§ Develop and manage critical path timelines to ensure all milestones are met throughout the product development process.


10. Best & Worst Analysis:

§ Analyse sales performance and product metrics to identify best-selling products and areas for improvement.


Person profile - capabilities, proficiency, experience:

§ BA in Business, Merchandising, or related field would be preferred.

§ Proven experience in luxury product merchandising in the retail or fashion industry.

§ Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends to inform decisions.

§ Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

§ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and product management software.

§ Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.

§ Knowledge of supply chain management and manufacturing processes.

§ Understanding of retail finance and financial analysis.

§ Creative thinker with a passion for product innovation and brand development.
